Los Banos, California is a small town located in the central San Joaquin Valley, about 80 miles south of Sacramento. With a population of just over 37,000, it offers a close-knit community feel while still having access to larger cities nearby. It is known for its agricultural roots, as well as its scenic landscapes and outdoor recreational opportunities.

For instance, John shared, "I've lived in Los Banos for 10 years now and I absolutely love it! The community is friendly and welcoming, and the small town atmosphere is perfect for raising a family." Another user, Sarah, added, "I grew up in Los Banos and have always felt a strong sense of community here. It's a safe and affordable place to live, with plenty of parks and outdoor activities for families."

However, not all reviews are completely positive. Some mention concerns about the town's job market and overall economy. As Pam stated, "While Los Banos has its charm, the job opportunities are limited and can be competitive. It's definitely a place where you need to have a secure job before moving here." Similarly, David noted, "The cost of living in Los Banos can be a bit high compared to nearby cities, and it can be tough to find well-paying jobs in the area."

Despite these challenges, others rave about the town's location and its proximity to popular destinations. For example, Maria shared, "One of the best things about living in Los Banos is its location. You can take a day trip to San Francisco, Yosemite, or the coast. It's also close to some great wineries in Napa and Sonoma." Overall, it seems that while Los Banos may have its drawbacks, many residents appreciate the sense of community and natural beauty that the town has to offer.

Los Banos' Bubble Bursting Real Soon! - 7/7/2019
Everything I think about this town has already been said. And those things unfortunately are more in the negative category. Not too much good to say about this town. Literally the only perk is the fact that there isnt crushing traffic to have to deal with on a daily basis. The only reason I stay is because I want to be close to my children that I had with a women who is from Los Banos so of course she has some ties here. Family and such. So you guessed it. Im pretty much indirectly trapped here. Otherwise Id be out of here so fast it'd make your head spin. And the housing and rental costs are absolutely ridiculous! WAAAAAAY too overpriced for the location. I mean, real estates main motto is "location, location, location." Ok then why doesnt that apply here? But I digress, That actually DID apply here up until about a few years ago when the locals let "the powers that be" here trick them into thinking they were part of the Bay area. I have news for the people of Los Banos...YOU Read More

maybe for singles or with no kids, but not family - 4/2/2019
The most attractive part of Los Banos is their proximity to San Jose and relatively low housing prices. However, if you look at it from different angles Los Banos may not be ideal. New home prices here are "cheap" in comparison to San Jose which can only be 1 hour away with no traffic. Or Gilroy which is 30 mins away. New homes in Los Banos are going for $300K? Some smaller plans are high $200K. Problem though is, there are no jobs in Los Banos. At least no high paying ones, and the ones that are, are very few. Los Banos is barely 40,000 people. I have heard/read that most of the residents there drive to San Jose or the greater Bay Area to work. If you can put up with the traffic commute, what do you do on the weekend. Remember this town only has 40,000. There is nothing here. No mall, one lousy small movie theater, amenities and activities are very lacking compared to a big city. Once they exhausted the few activities and things you can do here, you can go to Gilroy to shop (30 mins Read More

Inaccurate facts. The heat in Los Banos is relentless. From May to mid or end of September100 +degrees. I lived there most of my 59 years. It is oppressive. It can go weeks to months at 105 + degrees. Sickening Read More

A horrible place - 1/7/2013
It always starts out as a great place to raise children, a small, quaint town full of activities for the kids. You can sign your kids up in PAL(Police Athletic League) and you can choose from upwards of 5 k-6 schools, private and public. But then they grow up. And they are faced every day with peer pressure to do drugs, drink, join gangs, and bully. The high school, LBHS, given a little less crowded since the building of the other high school, is a very dark and dismal place. The teachers do not care about bullying and they do not care if their students learn. It, of course, has a few good teachers but if your child is not in their class I can guarantee they while hate their school life. Weed is the drug of choice in Los Banos for teenagers and the social norm is to hate another group of teenagers. Since the town does not have remotely ANYTHING to interest teenagers, besides a single movie theater, the kids have drunken parties every weekend.

Overcrowded Schools - 3/26/2006
The schools are filled to the bursting point due to the large number of Bay Area people who have settled their families here while they continue to commute 2 hours each way over the mountains to their jobs. Year round track systems exist in all the schools save one, even the JH. The HS was built to hold 1400 and now 'houses' 3400. Classes are at capacity in all schools Voters continue to refuse to fund Bonds to build more Read More
